Recently, I put forward a parliamentary motion to acknowledge the bravery of a young student from our community.
The 8-year-old was diagnosed with atypical teratoid rhabdoid, a form of brain and spine cancer, in 2019.
After an operation to remove his tumour Caleb has been treated with a trial drug and his condition remains stable.
In 2022, alongside his triplet sisters, he helped his parents launch the charity, Caleb’s Trio of Hope, a charity that aims to create fun memories for children with cancer who have received a palliative care diagnosis.
In the last two years, they have raised an enormous £24,000.
And he was honoured at this year's Pride of Scotland Awards where he was awarded the Child of Courage trophy.
“I was so delighted to meet Caleb, his mum Karen and two sisters, to present a framed Parliamentary Motion to him in recognition of his amazing achievement," Marie McNair MSP said.
“I have been following the family’s story for some time now, so it was so nice to finally meet them.
“I continue to be so in awe of Caleb’s immense bravery. He is such a kind-hearted young boy and brings so much joy to every room he is in.
“He and his family have shown such strength and determination to help others, despite what they face themselves.
“I know everyone across Clydebank will join me in congratulating him, he is such a well deserving winner of the Child of Courage trophy.”
