A DALMUIR poet has been recognised at the highest level of government thanks to the launch of his collection of poems.
Thomas Cox was given a parliamentary nod from Clydebank MSP Marie McNair when she recently presented him with a motion celebrating his achievements.
The talented lyricist recently published ‘Ten Times Tam’, a collection which features ten of Thomas’s poems written between 2020 and 2023, as part of the Clydebank Writers Group.
He launched these poems at an event which attended by the MSP and Ms McNair revealed it was a ‘privilege’ to be invited along to share in his joy.
She said: “I was delighted to present Thomas with this Motion celebrating his achievements and passion for poetry.
“It is so well deserved, after many years of working hard to create great pieces of poetry for others to enjoy.
“I have known Thomas for many years, and I am always pleased to support local constituents doing amazing work.
“His poems are heartfelt, and all have deeper meanings relating to his life experiences.
“I wish him every success in the future.”
In September, Thomas told the Clydebank Post the local writing group was his biggest motivation after years of suffering from depression.
He said at the time: “I have ups and downs as everyone does in life but writing helps. I don’t feel motivated unless I go to the group, so it definitely helps with my mental health.
“I don’t think I’d be here without it.”
Ms McNair’s Scottish Parliament Motion recognised Thomas’ achievements and the heartfelt sentiment in each of his poems.
